In June of 2006, the community of Hemingford saw their pool project come to fruition with the grand opening of the new state-of-the-art facility. The pool was made possible by generous donations from Hemingford Cooperative Telephone Company (HCTC), the Peter Kiewit Foundation, several area businesses and private donors.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 those donors were permanently recognized as the old diving board from the original pool, which was built in 1972, was mounted above the door of the office. Mark Klemke and Bridger Chytka of HCTC, were on hand at the pool to mount the heavy board. The complete donor list was inscribed on it by Casper Ningen. An additional sign was necessary to fit the long list of generous donors. That sign was made by Todd Phillips of Graphic Attitude Vinyl Art who also made a dedication sign which is mounted on the wall of the pool office.

The years after its opening, the pool is packed on summer afternoons by a variety of swimmers. The one missing piece . . . a water slide!

While original plans called for a slide, funds have yet to be raised; however there are hopes to find grant dollars for the fun addition.
