A spectacular sight filled the skies above Laing Lake in Alliance on Friday night as the Jaycees entertained onlookers with their annual fireworks display. The large crowd got a little wet as rain fell during the latter part of the display, but the show went on as planned.

New truck for Fire Dept.

Updated: Hemingford Fire Chief Mark Klemke reported to the Village Trustees Tuesday evening, during their regular meeting, that the Hemingford Rural Fire Board has agreed to purchase a new pumper truck at a cost of $278,000.

Hemingford will host one of the Cal Ripken Tournaments July 17-18-19 at the Hemingford Sports Complex. All-Star teams in the local event include the 11-year old teams from Alliance, Gering, Sandhills (Gordon), and Grand Island. The winner will qualify for a regional playoff.
