Four people were arrested for possession cocaine and marijuana after a Nebraska State Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding Thursday.

Denae Gonzales, 19, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver (10-27 grams), a Class ID felony; possession of a controlled substance, a Class IV felony; possession of marijuana (more than an ounce, less than a pound), a Class III misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding, both infractions. Velez, 19, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to deliver (10-27 grams), a Class ID felony; possession of a controlled substance, a Class IV felony; possession of money while violating drug statutes, a Class IV felony; possession of marijuana (more than an ounce, less than a pound), a Class III misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction. Lamont Reis, 18, and Alonzo Duarte, 20, have been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver (10-27 grams), a Class ID felony; possession of a controlled substance, a Class IV felony; possession of marijuana (more than an ounce, less than a pound), a Class III misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction.

According to an arrest affidavit, a trooper observed a vehicle at mile marker 16 on Highway 88 traveling nine miles over the speed limit and initiated a traffic stop.

The trooper immediately detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and called for assistance. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Gonzales, of Colorado, who told the trooper that she had been coming from Gering, where she had picked up two of the passengers.

Two Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and assisted the trooper with searches of the occupants of the vehicle and the vehicle driven by Gonzales. On Velez, a deputy allegedly located $819.

The trooper searched the vehicle, finding residual marijuana and a hash oil dabbing kit containing about two grams of hash oil in the glove box. The trooper and deputies searched the vehicle, locating 20 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag under the driver’s seat, a corner baggie of 17 grams of a white powder substances that tested positive for cocaine and a total of 56 grams of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle. Inside bags in the trunk, officers located two marijuana scales, two empty containers labeled as shatter, which is a cannabis extract, and another container containing marijuana residue.

The Nebraska State Patrol also seized six cell phones, an iPad and the vehicle as part of its investigation.

All four people were arraigned Friday in Scotts Bluff County Court. Velez is being held on a $300,000 bond. Gonzales, Reis and Duarte are being held on a $200,000 bond.
