TORRINGTON, Wyo. — Edna Riggs, 94, died Feb. 14, 2012, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the Colyer Funeral Home with Reverend Curtis Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.

A memorial has been established to the Goshen Care Center/Alzheimer Unit. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com.

Edna was born Dec. 1, 1917, in rural Goshen County the daughter of Edgar and Katherine (Putney) DeBrot. She grew up and received her education in Huntley, Wyo. where she graduated high school in 1938. She attended Business College in Arizona for two years before returning to the Huntley area. She married Wayne Riggs on Dec. 14, 1939 in Cheyenne, Wyo. and they farmed in the Huntley area. They wintered in Mesa, Ariz. for many years.

Edna enjoyed knitting, sewing, golf, playing Bridge, and dancing. She was a member of the Goshen County Cowbelles, Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Matron, a Job’s Daughters guardian, a 4-H leader, a member of the Wyoming Stockgrowers Association, a member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Wyoming Woolgrowers Association.

Edna is survived by her son, Tom Riggs and his wife Cheryl of Torrington, Wyo.; daughter, Sharon King of Lone Tree, Colo.; grandchildren, Shelley (Scott) Miller and Shawn Riggs of Torrington, Brian King of Casper, Wyo., and Brenda Brosius of Parker, Colo.; and great-grandchildren, David, Hayden, and Ainsley Miller, Parker, Wiley, and Kellee King, and Courtney and Morgan Brosius; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Edna in death were her parents; husband Wayne; two brothers; seven sisters; and two grandsons.
