MARSHALL, Minn. – Lauren Knapp and Macy Kleve each shot in the 70s again to help Chadron State women's golf to a fourth-place team finish out of 12 competing teams at the EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite, hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University at the Marshall Golf Club.
Kleve, who entered Sunday's round with a share of the lead after carding a 74 on Saturday, shot a round of 6-over 78 to finish with a 36-hole score of 8-over-par 152. Kleve tied for sixth with Upper Iowa's Morgan Krall out of a field of 73 golfers.
Kleve added three more birdies during Sunday's round. Along with her three birdies on Saturday, Kleve's six birdies across 36 holes were the most of any competitor.
Lauren Knapp, a sophomore from Rapid City, South Dakota, turned in CSC's best round of the day with a score of 5-over 77. Knapp hit two birdies on the day and added 10 more pars to finish with 23 pars for the tournament, tied for third-most in the field.
The Sunday 77, combined with Saturday's 78, saw Knapp finish tied for 11th place at 11-over 155. It marks a new career-low 18-hole and 36-hole score for Knapp, in addition to the best final tournament finish of her collegiate career.
Beyond CSC's top two, Klara Kleinig shot 12-over 84 and Brooklyn Tychsen shot 13-over 85 to make up CSC's scoring four.
Despite an 87 on Sunday, Maggie Teague was Chadron State's third-highest placer overall, ending up tied for 36th place at 22-over 166. Kleinig finished two strokes behind overall at 24-over 168, tied for 39th, while Tychsen ended tied for 57th at 177.
Taegan Bach, competing as an individual, repeated her Saturday score with a round of 97 on Sunday.
Chadron State finished at 63-over 639 in the team standings. The Eagles were 14 strokes behind third-place Upper Iowa and six strokes ahead of fifth-place Winona State. Augustana won the team title with Sioux Falls second, 11 strokes behind. The Cougars were still 15 strokes ahead of Upper Iowa.
