BILLINGS, Mont. – Senior Samantha Rodewald placed fifth and led Chadron State to a second-place women's team finish, while senior Wyatt Bly set a new career best, placing 10th individually, as Chadron State cross country competed at the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bears Open at Amend Park.
With a 6K time of 23:15.2, Rodewald was the first runner to break the streak of UMary top finishers, which took the top four spots. Bly's 8K time of 25:41.4 marked a career best at that distance by over a minute. Bly crossed the finish line as 10th among 97 men's runners.
In the women's race, senior Katelyn Beshara also earned a top-10 finish with a time of 23:54.5. Next among the Chadron State women was true freshman Anna Paus with a time of 24:13.8. Paus has been a strong addition to the Eagles, placing within the top 15 at all three meets so far this season.
With a 14th-place finish, Chadron native Kyndall Carnahan completed the race with a time of 24:13.9. Senior Ivy Hise concluded Chadron State's top five scoring times with her finish of 24:23.1. Hise placed 17th and beat her personal 6K time by over 20 seconds.
Rodewald, Beshara and Hise bested their individual placings from the same meet last year, with Hise climbing 27 places compared to 2024. The women's team placed second overall with 56 team points, 52 points better than Carroll College's third-place finish. The University of Mary secured the win, with 10 of its women's runners in the top 20.
