CHADRON, Neb. – The Chadron State cross country teams are set to compete in the RMAC Cross Country Championship this Saturday, Nov. 7, in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the Hart Ranch Camping Resort. The men's 8k race will occur at 9:30 a.m. followed by the women's 6k race at 10:15 a.m.
The Eagles will look to improve on last season's results, with the women's team finishing in 12th and the men's team finishing in 13th.
Senior Wyatt Bly has been the men's team top finisher at each race this year, clocking his best 8k time of 25:41.4 at the Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open in Billings, Montana. After redshirting last season, Bly will look to top his 2024 RMAC Championship performance of 27:13.87 that landed him in 85th place.
On the women's side, senior Samantha Rodewald has continuously clocked top performances, earning top-10 finishes in every race she has competed in this season. In every race this year, Rodewald has beaten her performance at last year's championship race, where she placed 86th with a time of 24:02.48.
In true freshman Anna Paus, the Eagles women may have found another contender. Paus shined with a fourth-place finish at the Bauer XC Classic earlier this year at the Hart Ranch Resort, where the Eagles will race again this weekend. Seniors Katelyn Bershara and Ivy Hise have tallied noteworthy races, both breaking into the top 20 in each race this season, with Bershara reaching the top 10 three times, and Hise reaching the top 10 once.
On the men's side of the Bauer XC Classic, which was a 6k, Bly finished second ahead of Kaden Boltz (16th) and Mizaiha Babers Webb (22nd). Boltz is CSC's top returning RMAC placer from 2024, as he crossed the line 79th as a true freshman in 27:03.74. Boady Hunter, another true freshman last season alongside Boltz, was part of CSC's scoring five last season and will hope for another strong RMAC Championships performance.
After the RMAC Championships, Chadron State will compete at the South Central Regional Cross Country Championships, which will take place in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday, November 21, and hope to qualify for the NCAA DII National Championships on December 4, 2026.
